State budget cuts bring changes to EADS

Elder and Adult Day Services has closed its Issaquah facility and has shifted those services to its Bellevue facility.

The change, effective June 1, is in response to cuts in the state’s budget.

EADS owns its Bellevue facility and has the capacity there to serve people from both programs, officials say.

Budget cuts will affect some of the families that use its services, EADS says.

For Medicaid funded participants at EADS living in a Medicaid funded licensed “residential options” (i.e. adult family home, group home, boarding home) the funding for EADS will be ending June 30. For Medicaid funded participants at EADS living with a family member, or in a non-licensed residential setting, funding for EADS will continue, but the person’s transportation to the center has been impacted.

The changes take effect on July 1.

Sarah Tuohy, the current Issaquah Center Director, will manage the collocated programs until Elder and Adult Day Services is able to secure funding sources to move back to Issaquah. The EADS Bainbridge Island and Des Moines Centers will continue to operate with no changes.
