People eager to have some fun at Lake Sammamish State Park – or any Washington state park – can to so for free Saturday, Sept. 29. The state parks commission is waiving the requirement for a Discover Pass in recognition of National Public Lands Day.
An annual Discover Pass costs $30. A one-day permit to use a state park is $10.
Legislation that created the Discover Pass allows for 12 “free days” a year for people experience state parks. The final free days will be Nov. 10-12 during the Veteran’s Day holiday weekend.
While the Discover Pass won’t be required Saturday at a state park, it still is necessary on state-managed recreation lands managed by Washington State Parks, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
