Two suspects in a stolen vehicle made a wrong turn early Tuesday morning — into the police department’s parking lot.

At approximately 1:20 ma.m., Medina Police were notified of a stolen vehicle entering the city limits through the city’s surveillance camera system. The vehicle was located as it headed into the police department parking lot. Cornered, the driver of the stolen vehicle took evasive measures, nearly striking an officer and glancing off his patrol car.

The driver fled eastbound on Overlake Drive West before the failing to make the corner at Groat Point and Overlake Drive and left the roadway. The two occupants fled the now disabled stolen vehicle, but were apprehended a short distance away after a K-9 track. Both subjects have a history of auto theft and were booked into the King County Jail for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle.

Bellevue, Clyde Hill, and Kirkland police departments all provided assistance.

It is believed the suspects may have been committing vehicle prowls prior to their apprehension. The Medina Police Department encourages anyone who had items removed from their vehicle last night to contact the department. Medina Police are continuing to investigate.
