Bellevue’s Temple B’nai Torah and Stocker Farms teamed up to gather and donate over 2,500 pounds of fresh produce for Northwest Harvest, which collects and distributes food to the hungry in Washington state.
The veggies went to the food bank Nov. 1.
Temple B’nai Torah and Stocker Farms have cooperated three consecutive years to provide donations to the Northwest Harvest.
Temple B’nai Torah members come from throughout the community to spend the day doing this ‘mitzvah’, or good deed, dedicating several hours in the field picking and cleaning off the produce.
“It’s a great community service project and family activity for our members, and a privilege for us to be able to do, even when our truck gets stuck in the mud,” said Stuart Rosen, a Temple B’Nai member who coordinated the project.
