An event Jan. 30 at the Bellevue Regional Library will commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s contribution toward bringing peace and non-violence to the world.
At 2 p.m. celebration will feature a keynote address by Rev. Dr. Samuel McKinney, civil rights leader and pastor emeritus of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Seattle.
At 4 p.m. U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott will honor the donors of the Gandhi memorial statue and unveil the donor plaque.
A candlelight vigil for peace at the Gandhi Memorial Statue will follow.
