Two Bellevue Scouts earn Eagle Award

Two scouts who are also step-brothers, Daniel Kaplan and Raphael Schuster, have achieved the rank of Eagle. Members of Boy Scout Troop 662, they were presented the awards Dec. 28.

Two scouts who are also step-brothers, Daniel Kaplan and Raphael Schuster, have achieved the rank of Eagle. Members of Boy Scout Troop 662, they were presented the awards Dec. 28.

As part of a community service project to achieve the award, Daniel made safety improvements to a parking lot shared by an area school, The Jewish Day School of Metropolitan Seattle, and a synagogue, Temple B’nai Torah, in Bellevue.

Raphael’s project included planning and managing the building of a drainage ditch and improvements to a drainage system on the property of Temple B’nai Torah in order to reduce the potential for water running into neighboring properties during heavy rain.

The Eagle Scout Award is the highest award a boy scout can receive.

Daniel is the son of John Kaplan and Carol Schuster, stepson of Brian Schuster, and stepson of Michelle Kaplan, all of Bellevue. Raphael is the son of Brian Schuster and Terri Schuster, and stepson of Carol Schuster of Bellevue.
