Christopher James Bell and Neil Edward Baunsgard of Bellevue have earned the Eagle Scout award. Bell is a freshman and Baunsgard a senior at Newport High School.
They will be recognized at an Eagle Court of Honor on Sunday, March 22 at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 14230 SE Newport Way in Bellevue.
Members of Troop 638, chartered by Aldersgate Methodist Church, they are among approximately 4 per cent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank, according to Scoutmaster Clay Wilson.
Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a service project that benefits a community, religious institution, or school.
For his service project, Bell built a retaining wall on the hillside at Aldersgate Methodist Church involving 250 hours of work by Scouts, parents, and the Aldersgate Youth Group.
Baunsgard’s project was to put a concrete floor inside the Jubilee Reach Center in Bellevue, to help with safety issues and create a usable storage area.
