Bellevue's Women in Black will note the anniversary of September 11 with a vigil in downtown Bellevue.

Bellevue’s Women in Black will note the anniversary of September 11 with a vigil in downtown Bellevue.

The hour-long event will be at noon on the southwest corner of NE Eighth Street and Bellevue Way.

Women in Black is an international network of women who stand in war-making and war-torn countries around the world, mourning for all casualties of war and victims of violence. Bellevue’s Women in Black have held their hour-long vigil every Saturday for over seven years.

The vigil is by tradition silent and “ground rules” are that participants stand curb-side on the sidewalk, being sure they do not block any doorways, driveways or crosswalks and that they strive to be non-confrontational and to cause no disturbance.
