The city of Bellevue and King County will present a series of free natural yard care workshops this month and next.
Natural yard care techniques are designed to minimize chemical pesticide use, conserve water and reduce yard waste being deposited in landfills.
The goal, organizers say, is to help keep neighborhoods and waterways clean and healthy.
The workshops feature design tips to help make the most of any yard: big or small, flat or hilly. Participants also will learn about controlling pests without toxic pesticides or herbicides, building healthy soil, practicing smart watering and natural lawn care, and designing with plants. Natural yard care experts will be at each workshop to offer advice and answer any questions.
All three will be held from 7-9 p.m. at Bellevue City Hall, 450 110th Ave N.E. The workshops will be held on April 15, April 29 and May 13. Each workshop will cover a different natural yard care related topic, like natural pest control, smart watering and designing a natural lawn.
