Youth Eastside Services (YES) will begin a series of eight-90 minutes classes for parents of children with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) beginning Wednesday, October 21. The sessions, from 6:30–8 p.m., will run for consecutive Wednesdays through Dec. 16 (no class on Nov. 25).
The series will help parents to navigate the joys and challenges of children with ADD and ADHD. Topics will include an overview of the conditions, current medical practices and treatment, social and emotional development and support strategies, the impact of ADHD on the family and working with schools and school related problems.
Instructors include Sandy Malone-Long who has taught ADD/ADHD classes for 10 years and Lori Homes who has been a counselor and parent educator at YES and is herself a parent of an ADHD child.
Classes will be held at Youth Eastside Services, 999 164 Ave. NE in Bellevue’s Crossroads Park. Cost for the series is $160. A second parent or partner is free. Some financial assistance may be available.
