Audrey Jane Palmer

Audrey Jane Williams Palmer

Born Audrey Jane Williams, March 2, 1923, to Washington State pioneers Lewie Williams and John Edyth Thorp Williams, Jane passed away March 18 in Bellevue. Jane was raised in Ballard with her family, graduating from BHS in 1941. An outdoor person, she excelled in swimming and skiing. Jane married Eugene A. Palmer, a Navy Dentist, March 7, 1946. When he was discharged, they moved to Bellevue to establish his dental practice. She was a gourmet hostess and enjoyed entertaining, which she did with flair. During the ‘50s the family moved to Lake Sammamish, allowing them to have horses and small livestock. When this became too limited, they bought a weekend ranch in Ellensburg. After divorcing in the ‘70s, Jane took up golfing and joined a women’s group at Tall Chief. She was an active member of Overlake Service League for 40 years and a life member of Ballard Golden Beavers. She loved cooking, sewing, travelling and painting, and her easel often held a work in progress. Jane’s home was always open and visitors would be greeted with a smile and something she had whipped up in the kitchen. Jane is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Palmer and Roger Palmer (Beth), daughter Charlanne Palmer Brakebill, grandchildren Allison Palmer, Audrey Palmer-Lindh (Martin), Sarah Brakebill, Stephen Brakebill, Bryan Palmer, Justin Palmer and great-grandchildren Brittney Moses and Alex Lindh, sister Charlotte Lenz (Elmer) and predeceased by her sister Suzanne Moran and son in law Stephen W. Brakebill. The Celebration of life service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, 1717 Bellevue Way NE, on April 19 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Heart Association and the Arthritis Foundation.
