Douglas Steven Miller

14 March 1927 – 19 January 2014

Doug Miller joined his wife Markie of 50 years, after a life of love, friendship and achievement. He is survived by his children Lynn, Linda Wilmer, and Kirby, his son-in-law Jim Wilmer and daughter-in-law Linda Miller, and his grandchildren Gabriel and Jake Miller.

A man of unwavering integrity and stunning intellect, he was an Eagle Scout, an Army Artillery Officer, and an Aeronautical Engineer. But most of all, Doug was a really good husband, father, grandfather and friend.

First seeing the Pacific Northwest on a wartime troop train, Doug and Markie moved to Bellevue in the mid-fifties. He loved our rugged scenery, and was able to spend quality time in the outdoors as an adult leader in the Indian Guides and Boy Scouts, as well being a certified cold-water scuba diver.

Doug’s lifetime love of all things aviation began as a boy growing up in Chicago, and this translated into a rewarding career at Boeing for 38 years. His patented aircraft design innovations will outlive us all.

His retirement years were greatly enjoyed with his wife and family, his friends in the Boeing Lunch Bunch, and as a resident of the Belletini in Bellevue. All who knew him keenly feels his loss…but are better for the experience.
