Duane was raised on a horse ranch in Idaho and remained a cowboy at heart. He was active in sports, graduated from Gonzaga University and while a staff sergeant in the Air Force Reserves married Gertrude ‘Trudi’ Tapani in 1944. As part of Sears management, Duane and his young family lived in several parts of British Columbia. In 1966 they returned to the United States and Duane later became the first manager of the new Sears store in Redmond, WA. After retiring, Duane and Trudi traveled the world and the United States.
Duane is preceded in death by his wife Trudi; brother Coral; sisters-in-law Jean Cotterell and Faye Tapani; brother-in-law Carl; son-in-law Stephen Moriarty. He is survived by his sister Bonita Fengler; brother-in-law Lauri Tapani; son Tim Cotterell; son Lindsey Cotterell (Theresa); daughter Leslie Moriarty (Stephen); daughter Julie Cotterell (Keith); many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Duane had many friends and will be missed.
