Eric Jay Bean
Eric Bean, born in Seattle November 14, 1958, died in his home in Bellevue, February 17, 2016 after a courageous fight with cancer. He was comforted by his deep faith and family.
Being a father and husband was paramount in Eric’s life. He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Marie Houglum Bean, and sons Nate (23) and Josh (19), and daughter Elsa (16).
Eric was an active member of Saint Andrews Lutheran Church, a baritone/tenor in the Lyric Arts Ensemble, and very proud coach and role model for his children and other kids in Issaquah lacrosse.
Eric was also proud of the software products and teams he built and managed during his career, especially during his last 8 years as VP at Clarity Health Services. Prior to Clarity, Eric managed products for Captaris, Aventail, PictureIQ, ImageX, Adobe, and Aldus.
Eric’s education included an MBA from the University of Washington, MSE from Seattle University, and BS in Math from Pacific Lutheran University.
He grew up the third of five children of Jay and Sue Bean, in Wenatchee, Washington. He is survived by Jay and “bonus mom” Connie Bean, of East Wenatchee; sisters Cici (Randy) Asplund of Wenatchee, and Martha (Ralph) of Seattle; brothers Jeff (Sue) of Normandy Park and Scott (Jennifer) of Seattle; by his Aunt Nadine (Alex), of Washington DC, and by Marie’s family.
Eric was a joy, mentor, and loving man who will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.
A funeral for Eric will be held Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 3:00 pm, at Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Bellevue. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent in memory of Eric Bean to Lutheran World Relief, www.lwr.org.
