It is with great sadness that we share the death of Eric William Huenefeld, on October 27th, 2024, after a short, and brave journey with cancer. Eric died peacefully at home surrounded by love.

Eric William Huenefeld was born in Forest Ridge Park, Illinois September 3rd, 1969, to Bill Huenefeld and Molly Colliberti.

Eric was the third child of four.

When Eric was three years old, his family moved to Bellevue, Washington. In Bellevue, Eric met lifelong friends, and played sports and was particularly passionate about playing Lacrosse and graduated from Bellevue High School, in 1987. After high school, Eric attended the University of Arizona, where he played Lacrosse once again.

He worked in different positions in the Seattle area, mostly in a management position, as he was a leader and believed in people’s abilities. Eric was passionate about helping others. In 2013, Eric married his wife, Emili Fletcher. Together Eric and his wife shared the passion of helping others. Eric went back to school and earned a master’s in Kirkland from Northwest University. He trained to become a trauma therapist where he practiced EMDR, a therapy that he very much believed healed him from his own trauma. Eric grew a successful counseling practice and profoundly touched so many lives. During this time, Eric and Emili, welcomed their son, Benjamin. Eric’s dream of having a family was fulfilled. Eric was a loving, supportive and amazing husband and father. Eric loved with all of his heart.

Eric was outspoken, smart and talented. He believed in social justice and was an advocate for others. He loved Jesus, the outdoors, sports, and his family most of all. He had a huge impact on all of us and will be missed terribly.

Eric is survived by his wife, and son, his parents, his four siblings, and several nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers and as part of Eric’s legacy, the Eric Huenefeld Foundation was established to provide financial support to individuals who are in need of trauma therapy, EMDR, and to continue Eric’s dream of helping others heal.
