Ethel Marion Marks
Ethel Marion Marks passed away on March 7, 2011. She was born in Port Alice, British Columbia, September 6, 1918, to Andrew and Susie Gangnes. Ethel grew up in Fragaria, Washington and graduated from South Kitsap High School. She moved to Seattle and attended the Hazel Melbourne School of Business and became a bookkeeper. She married the love of her life, Ken Marks, in 1946 and they spent 60 wonderful years together. They first resided in Bremerton. Later they moved to Medina, Washington, where they purchased the Medina Grocery. She kept the books for the store and assisted the postmaster general. After 15 years of marriage, she gave birth to her only son, Robert, her pride and joy. They moved to Bellevue in 1962 and stayed there until 2002, when they moved to Merrill Gardens in Mill Creek. Her interests and hobbies were many. She was an exceptional baker. She loved her family, who in return, adored and respected her. She coveted and remained loyal to many friends and acquaintances throughout her life. Ethel’s goal in life was to promote happiness and fulfillment, not just for herself but for everyone she knew. She was truly a very “Special” person and she will be missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kendall Marks. She is survived by son, Robert (wife, Kelly), and her 3 grandchildren, Eric, Taryn and Colin. We will miss her infectious nature and the twinkle in her eyes; her quick wit; her determination; her sweet, kind and giving spirit; and her endless love.
Her memorial will be held on March 25, 1:00 pm, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2316 – 180th St SE, Bothell.
