Evelyn G. KuhnsEvelyn was born Oct. 12, 1922, in Murfreesboro, married in the summer of 1941 and for the next 14 years traveled the world as an Army wife. All three of her children were born in military hospitals: Bill in Charleston, S.C., Kathy in Manila, P.I. and Dan in Washington D.C. Upon the medical retirement of her where she raised her family and later worked for the Fred G. Meyer Corporation. Evelyn rose through the corporate ranks to store manager and became one of the first women executives with the organization. In retirement, she enjoyed living an independent life in her own home. She was an active member of the Women’s auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lake Washington Post 2995 for 32 years. Her social life was centered on the VFW where she had many friends and the Bingo halls where she had many more. She was funny, feisty and well-loved. A member of the “Greatest Generation”…she will be missed.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband and granddaughter, Kelly Kaiser-Sork. She is survived by her three children, her brother Jerry, and her grandchildren B.J., Will and Gardner.
A celebration of her life will be held at VFW post 2995, Redmond, WA at 6:30 PM on Thursday, August 7th.
