George David Salisbury
Age 85, born April 22, 1924 to Warren and Florence Salisbury in Buffalo, New York. A graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York, he served as a commissioned officer during the Second World War and the Korean conflict. He later graduated from the University of Michigan. He married Shirley Rae Graef in 1946.His life was defined by his love of boats and his passion for sailing. His career in ship building spanned the globe and during his retirement, he sailed aboard his ketch Andiamo to Mexico where he embarked on a solo transpacific voyage, traveling extensively through the South Pacific, New Zealand and Australia. Survived by his children: Jamie Salisbury (Rome, GA), Mardi Salisbury Currin (Spokane, WA), Fred Salisbury (Silverdale, WA), David Salisbury (Bellevue, WA); his step-daughter Lisa Clark (Bainbridge Island, WA); 9 Grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. George is preceded in death by his wife Shirley.A celebration of his life will be held on September 27, 2009 at Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. 9927 Meydenbauer Way S.E.
