Hans G. Person
Hans G. Person passed away on October 27, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 86. Hans was a sociable, inquisitive and quite dapper gentleman. He enjoyed meeting people, and embraced the distinctive characteristics of all the people he met and places he visited. Hans was a resident of Kirkland, WA for the past 12 years, and prior to that he lived in Bellevue, WA for 40 years.Hans was born in Stockholm, Sweden and grew up in Chicago, IL, where he graduated from Tilden Technical High School. He was in the Marine Corps during WWII, stationed in Hawaii in supply operations. After the war he attended Northwestern University. In Chicago, he met the charming Lillian. They married and Hans pursued a career as a mechanical engineer with the Austin Company. His 35 year career brought them to Seattle in 1956. Hans and Lillian raised their daughter Laurie Jo and son Eric Anders in West Bellevue. Lillian passed away in 1997. During her long illness and years after, Hans enjoyed the camaraderie of early breakfast at Chase’s Pancake Corral and competitive chili cooking around the Northwest. A few years ago, Hans reconnected with a friend from his and Lillian’s time in Chicago, Helen Larson now of Siesta Key, FL. They traveled to visit each other with the seasons, and enjoyed a devoted relationship. Hans was predeceased by his wife Lillian (1921-1997) and son, David (1954-1955). He is survived by his daughter Laurie Hornor (Carson), son Eric Person (Dena), grandchildren Chaffin Hornor, Anders Hornor, Jeremy Person (Carissa), Melonee Baron (Justin), Tyler Person, and great-grandchildren Carter and Theo Person, and Chloe and Cooper Baron, all of the greater Seattle area. A gathering of family and friends will be held to reminisce about Han’s full life.
