Harriet Francis Porter Hertzog
Harriet Francis Porter Hertzog, 97, died peacefully in Bellevue, WA on September 12, 2010. She was born in Ballard in Seattle June 7, 1913 to Merle Norman and Edward Charles Porter. Harriet was a graduate of Western Washington College of Education and taught for 31 years in Idaho and Washington. She was married for 65 years to Rev. Fred Hertzog who passed away 8 years ago. As Methodist minister’s wife in Tacoma, Chewelah, Randle, and Langley and as church member in Port Angeles, she loved providing hospitality, crafts and cooking and leading hiking and camping expeditions. She is survived by one brother Ed Porter and his family in Spokane; two daughters: Winifred (Yura) Sihon of Renton and Carol (Erica) (Lance) Johnson of Pahoa, Hawaii; grandchildren Mike (Deanna) Sihon of Sammamish and Anna Sihon of Eugene, OR; and 3 great-grandchildren. She has lived in Bellevue since March of 2008 in Sunrise Senior Living, Overlake Hospital, Mission Healthcare and Newport Hills Villa Adult Family Home. A Memorial Service celebrating Harriet’s life will be held Oct. 16 at 11:00 AM in the Port Angeles United Methodist Church.
