Laurie McDonald

Laurie McDonald, age 56, dearly beloved by many, passed away suddenly at home on June 4, 2014.

Laurie grew up in Boston and was an enthusiastic Red Sox fan. She spent parts of her youth in Maine and leaves deep roots at Bog Lake. Laurie was an accomplished professional, graduating from the University of Maine with a degree in Civil Engineering followed by a successful career at The Boeing Company.

Twenty two years ago, Laurie and John Stokes married. They had two children, Geoffrey and Lucy, and Laurie devoted herself to her family, homeschooling their children until high school. Laurie was a woman of deep faith, and she leaves behind a legacy of friendship, joy, generosity and trust in the Lord.

Laurie is survived by her husband, John, son Geoffrey, and daughter Lucy, her parents; father Dr. Jeremiah McDonald and his wife Louise, and mother Alta McDonald, and brother, Bruce McDonald, step-sisters Christine Fennelly and Maureen Mahoney.

A viewing will be held at Flintoft’s of Issaquah from 3 to 6 pm Wednesday, June 11th. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 4 pm at St. Monica’s Catholic Church on Mercer Island preceded by a viewing at 3 and Rosary at 3:30. Reception immediately following Mass at St. Monica’s.
