Loyd D. Jacobs, of Bellevue, Washington passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 9, 2017, at Covenant Shores, Mercer Island.
Born November, 1932 in Wolcott, Indiana he was the only son of Donald and Hulda Jacobs. Loyd was preceded in death by his college sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Barbara Jacobs, and son, John Jacobs. Loyd leaves behind a son and daughter, Paul (Kitty) Jacobs & Ann Jacobs (David Latchman), a brother, Dr. Dale Jacobs, 12 grand and great-grandchildren, and his partner & neighbor, Sue Olsen.
A proud alum of Emporia State University (BA 1954) and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln (MS 1957 Physics), Loyd met his soon to be wife in the Physics department at the University of Nebraska and took her and the many valuable lessons learned in college and set out to make a life together. His education served him well working for The Boeing Company as a well respected Senior Engineer for 37 years, during which time he was credited with several patented design innovations.
As a long time caring resident of Bellevue he served his community advocating for thoughtful planning of growth and development of the city.
His love of design and gardening flourished during retirement as he continued to work and redesign his incredible, multi-level landscape endeavor of 53 years. Loyd was the family patriarch instilling a love and dedication to family, hard work, education, personal responsibility, frugality, and humility.
