Marian M. “Peggy” Dreves
Marian Margaret “Peggy” Redinger Dreves left this earth to be with her creator on July 4, 2014.
Born in Spokane February 24, 1930 to John and Margaret (Ulowetz) Redinger, she graduated from Holy Names Academy (Spokane) in 1948, and entered the Sisters of the Holy Names in Marylhurst, Oregon. As Sister Margaret Joan, she taught in Catholic schools in Tacoma, Seattle, Richland and Spokane. She served in parish administration, in the Seattle Archdiocesan office, and in early childhood religious education with Veronica Beacom Dreves, long-time Lake Hills resident, until Mrs. Dreves’ death in 1986. Released from her religious vows and community in 1987, she married Martin P. Dreves, Sr., who died in 1989. She was an active member of St. Louise parish before retiring to Spokane in 2005.
A loving and generous-hearted sister, aunt, step-mother, and step-grandmother, Peggy is survived by brothers Robert (Dorothy), Kalispell, MT and Richard (Barbara), Spokane, and numerous nieces and nephews. Five Dreves step-children, Vivien Rose, Trumansburg, NY, Thomas Dreves, Tokyo, James J. Dreves, Snohomish, Christine Rose, Kirkland, Julia Miller, Edgewood, and their spouses, 13 step-grandchildren, and 2 step-great-grandchildren also survive. A step-son, Martin P. Dreves, Jr., died in 1997.
A funeral mass was offered at St. Thomas More, Spokane, and a memorial mass at St. Louise, Bellevue. Her remains are interred at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, Bellevue.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to Sisters of the Holy Names, Alzheimer’s Association, or Hospice of Spokane.
