Maudelle Florence (Corvey) Jones

Maudelle Florence (Corvey) Jones was born October 3, 1919 to Steven Edward and Laura Lucretia Ellen Merrill, the seventh of nine children. At age 16 she married Prentice Henry Corvey. That marriage lasted for 26 years until the passing of Prentice in 1963. In 1973 she married Clifford Jones. That marriage also lasted for 26 years until Clifford’s passing in the year 2000. She passed away peacefully 17 days before her 91st birthday. Maudelle is survived by three children of her first marriage, Barbara Ranger-Lynch, Prentiss Corvey and Cheryl Austin, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grand-children, and numerous nieces and nephews.Maudelle was active in the Order of the Eastern Star throughout her adult life. She joined Lakeside Chapter of the O.E.S. in the early 1950’s after being sponsored by her brother, Walter E. Merrill. During the mid 50’s she was the Mother Advisor to the Bellevue Rainbow Girls. She was installed as Worthy Matron of the Lakeside Chapter in 1963 and in 1971 was appointed as Westside Chair of Deputies when her sister, Charlotte Marsh, became Worthy Grand Matron of Washington State O.E.S.
