Mildred Olena Gillie
Mildred Olena Gillie of Bellevue, Washington died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Overlake Hospital. She was 91 years old. At her request, no services will be held.Mildred, who was known to most as “Doodlebug” or simply “Doodle” was born to Anton and Lillian Freng in Shelby, Montana on February 19, 1921. She was the youngest of five children. The nickname was given to her at childhood by oil workers in the area where she lived. Doodlebug is a term for devices used to find underground oil, such as dowsing rods. The name forever stuck.Doodle has always been very self reliant. She raised four children. As a riveter she built airplanes. After the passing of her husband Don Gillie in 1982 she managed a number of semi-trucks they had owned. She has always been well known for her strong spunk and spirit. In later years she took every opportunity to travel the world. Mildred loved her family very much and is survived by three of her children, Beverly Jean Gilstad of Missoula, Montana, Howard Kenneth Shelton of Bothell, Washington, and Lee David Gillie of Spokane, Washington. She was predeceased by her son Larry LaVern Isaacson. Mildred was proud to have 10 grandchildren, 14 great grand children, and 2 great, great-grandchildren.
