Neal Lowe Wilson
Neal Lowe Wilson passed away suddenly on August 23, 2009. He was born December 17, 1943 in Spokane, WA, the son of the late Roy D. and Hedra H. Wilson.After two years of Army service, Neal attended the Providence Hospital School of X-ray Technology in Seattle, WA, specializing in interventional radiology from 1968 – 1970. He attended Duke University’s Physician Assistant program, graduating in 1972, and returned to Providence Medical Center as a Radiology PA. In addition, he was named Radiology Administrator, serving in that capacity for 21 years.In 1994, Mayo Clinic Jacksonville invited Neal to be Radiology Administrator for both the Clinic and St. Luke’s Hospital (now Mayo Hospital), where he worked for the next 11 years. Under his leadership, Mayo was one of the first medical institutions to implement filmless radiology.In 1997, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, which eventually led to his retirement in 2005.Neal never lost sight of medicine’s true goal: placing patient needs and their well-being first. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judy Pival Wilson (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL), children: Chris (Sammamish); Pam and husband Joe Ehrbar (Edmonds); Erik and wife Kristina (Jacksonville, FL); Greg (Los Angeles), grandchildren, Danielle Wilson (Sammamish) and Joey Ehrbar (Edmonds); brother Thomas D. Wilson and wife Doris of Lamona, WA. He has many nieces, nephews and cousins, innumerable colleagues and friends.A memorial service honoring Neal was held Aug. 27 in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. A memorial service in Seattle will be held this fall.
