Judge Richard Moriye Ishikawa
Judge Richard Moriye Ishikawa born September 4, 1932 in Seattle, WA, our loving husband and father passed away peacefully with several family members at his side on March 3, 2009 at Overlake Hospital, Bellevue Washington. Judge Ishikawa is survived by his wife of 48 years, June; sons Kevin, Steven and daughter Lisaye (Thomas, Alyssa & Hallie Manning). He is also survived by his sister Yoshie (Martha) Kaisaki of Spokane, WA and several nieces and nephews. Judge Ishikawa is preceded in death by his parents Shichiro (Fred) and Kimi Ishikawa of Spokane, WA, brother George Ishikawa of Seabrook, TX and sister Namiko (Tomeo) Mukai of Spokane, WA. Judge Ishikawa served as a King County Superior Court Judge for over 22 years and was the first Japanese American to be elected to the bench. Judge Ishikawa is a retired Colonel from the United States Army serving in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) unit. Judge Ishikawa was a proud Alumni of Gonzaga University, Spokane, WA where he attended Law School and enjoyed being a member of the Gonzaga University Glee Club. Judge Ishikawa was an avid fan of the Gonzaga University basketball team and frequently cheered them on to victory. Judge Ishikawa touched so many people with his exuberant laugh and his caring personality. Judge Ishikawa will be sorely missed by his family, friends and those that knew him. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 5:30 pm. at the Seattle Betsuin Buddhist Temple located at 1427 South Main Street, Seattle, WA.195634
