Ronald G. Bean
Ronald G. Bean, 83, of Redmond, Washington, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016.
Ron was born July 3, 1933, in Spokane, the third of Maude and Gilbert Bean’s seven children. Raised in Seattle, near Green Lake, Ron graduated from Roosevelt High School and played on the football team. In 1951 he apprenticed with the Washington Plumbers & Pipefitters. In 1953 he enlisted in the Coast Guard and was stationed on the cutter “Winona” in Port Angeles. After his discharge in 1955 he returned to Seattle where he continued working as a plumber, the last 25 years with University Mechanical Contractors, retiring in 1993.
In 1972, Ron married Susan Bean (nee Pegg), who he met at a “Parents Without Partners” dance. Ron loved to travel and they were fortunate to visit many cities around the world.
For the past 15 years, he has volunteered in the kitchen of the Redmond Senior Center. He treasured the camaraderie of the kitchen staff and his membership in the “Grumpy Old Men’s” club.” He was member of the Fraternal Organization of Elks for many years, including a term as Exalted Ruler.
Ron is survived by Susan, his wife of 44 years; his three sons, Larry (Janine); Darryl; and Randy (Elizabeth); and their mother Wanda (nee Frank); his stepdaughters, Teresa Saunders; Kim Siebert (Vince); and Lisa Barclay (John). He was the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Maude and Gilbert Bean; brothers Lester and Howard; sister Marilyn. He is survived by his brothers Warren and Charles Clayton and sister Carolyn Agee (Doug).
A celebration of Ron’s life will take place at the Redmond Senior Center, 8703 160 th Ave. NE, Redmond on October 15, 3:30 to 6:30.
