Stanley Ames Root

Stanley Ames Root, 87, died after a brief illness on March 9, 2013. Born in Springfield, MA, he enlisted in the US Navy serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired from Boeing in 1987. Well known and loved in the square dance community, Stan continued dancing until just days before his death. Stan is survived by his wife, Patricia, (married in 2007); children Gloria, Kenneth, Beverly, and Dean, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Jean Corjay. Stan was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Ellen, in 2004. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kent Meridian Grange, 15422 SE 272nd St., Kent, WA 98042. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to your favorite charity.
