Susan Jill (Medina) Hankins of North Bend WA, was taken home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, February 14th, 2022. She lived 81 years, was a devoted wife to Barry Hankins, an incredible mother to Michael, Ron and Brad, a proud grandmother of six and great- grandmother of five.
Born to Ronald and Hazel Medina in Renton, WA, raised in Medina, she moved to California to attend college, eventually returning to Bellevue, WA. to start her career and family. In 1982 she and Barry built their home in North Bend. Little did they know the plans God had for them to play such an integral role in contributing to build an incredible community.
Susan was known for many things, her strength, her joy, her love for others, her desire to know who you are, her patriotic spirit, and her love for God. She approached the hardest of times with a positive perspective. Through the difficulties of life, and she experienced many, she would focus on her blessings, never complaining. Her life verse was, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” She’d approach each day with strength and the desire to reach out and serve others.
Susan truly loved people. No matter who you were she would know your life story. Not only that, she would also remember it, making you a friend for life. She had a genuine care for others, desiring to stay in touch, hearing your most recent news. This brought her so much joy.
Most of all, Susan had incredible love and faith in Jesus Christ. He was the center of her strength, love for others and desire for service. She mentored many with such grace and wisdom.
Susan believed in making the world a better place. After almost 20 years at Rocket Research in Redmond, retiring as the Executive assistant to the founder and CEO, she dedicated herself to community service. She served on the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce as Executive Director for many years, and as a Board of Directors member for the Mt. Si Senior Center, Sno-Falls Credit Union and Northwest Railway Museum, earning the title of President Emeritus.
What a joy it is to know she is dancing in Heaven. Well done good and faithful servant.
