UP For County Executive Ron Sims and County Council chair Julia Patterson. The two high-ranking politicians came up with a plan to finally do something about the county’s animal shelters by proceeding in an innovative way. They each dismissed their staffs from a meeting and sat down face-to-face to hash the problems out. The result: a solution.

UP For the Eastside Catholic baseball team that finished the season 16-0 in the Metro League Mountain Division. The Crusaders not only have strong pitching and defense, but also a squad that can – and does – smash the ball out of the park.

UP For Microsoft, which continues to make Bellevue’s downtown part of its place to do business. The software firm plans to lease 25 of 26 floors of the City Center Plaza building that’s nearing completion on Northeast Sixth Street and 110th Avenue Northeast. Counting other leases in Bellevue, Microsoft will have more than 7,500 employees here.

UP For City Hall, which also deserves credit for making Bellevue a great place to work. A recent story in the Bellevue Reporter talked about business visionaries who have propelled the city forward. The city of Bellevue is an equal player in making Bellevue the vibrant place it is today.
