This year’s celebration of Earth Day holds a particularly special meaning for Allied Waste Services of Bellevue, a Republic Services Company. On April 13, we officially “flipped the switch” on our new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) facilities here in town and, on April 18, we went before the City Council to present our annual Bellevue Star Recycler Award to businesses with the largest output of recycled material in 2010. These businesses reached 80 percent or more recycled material.
Our CNG station fuels 43 trucks that serve Bellevue and the Eastside. Our “Fresh Air” trucks release less than one tenth of the particulate matter that diesel trucks release. And they are quieter, too.
These days our fleet is healthier for the environment and it is quieter for the people we serve as well as for our drivers. This is just one of many investments we have made in the community and we thank the City of Bellevue for sharing in our special grand opening as well as for its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship.
Allied Waste Services is thrilled to partner with the City of Bellevue. We are pleased and proud to recognize these accomplishments in coordination with Earth Day. And we want to acknowledge each and every citizen who does their part – at school, at work, and at home – to care for our environment. To us, you have proven that every day is Earth Day in Bellevue.
But we can do even better. Here is the call to action …
The City of San Francisco claims to have the best recycling rate. The City of Bellevue is fast on their heels. That puts us on the map as a leader in conserving natural resources and in protecting the world in which we live.
Please join Allied Waste Services in making Bellevue’s recycling rate the best on the West Coast. This is a challenge in which everyone comes out a winner – now and in the future. We are here to help you do it.
