Bravo to the KingCo conference for finally making Bellevue High School football program accountable for all of their actions and cheating.
I have two sons who both played varsity football for Newport High School from 2000–2009 and both were selected to be on the KingCo Conference team.
It was a known fact then to their coaches and entire team that Bellevue High School recruited players from outside the school district and outside the state of Washington. They were all outstanding athletes and most times of African-American descent.
It was always a goal to beat Bellevue, but that never happened in all those years because of their superior team of athletes. How is this fair for all the other young competitive men playing football? Bellevue High School is a public school, not an elite prep school, paid for with our tax dollars. Shame on the Bellevue Boosters Club and all the other adults that allowed this sham to go on for so many years. Big money buying big championships is just plain wrong. The lesson here should be that if you cheat you will eventually get caught.
