Interlake senior Sarah Anderegg set a new scoring record for the 2A District 3 tournament with 93 points in four games for the Saints, who came up just short of the state tournament by losing to Kingston 65-51 in a loser-out game.
Anderegg shattered the previous record of 67 points set by Jennifer Osgood of Vashon Island.
Interlake finished its season with an 11-13 overall mark. Anderegg finishes her career as one of the most prolific scorers in KingCo Conference history.
The 6-foot-2 Whitman commit led the conference in scoring the past three seasons and upped her average each year: 18.9 points per game as a sophomore, 21.1 as a junior and 21.2 this season as a senior. She was the state’s leading scorer this season with 509 total points.
The Saints had won just six games in three seasons before she arrived. The senior has led Interlake to back-to-back playoff appearances. She leaves with 1,565 total points for her career.
“Her work ethic and competitive fire is unmatched,” said Saints coach Scott Marcum. “She faced double and triple teams every time she touched the ball this season and still led the league in scoring by a wide margin. She is literally the player that every kid in the Interlake program, middle school and high school, wants to become.”
