Kirkland National scored 26 runs in their first three District tournament games combined, winning each of the three handily to move into the Saturday winners bracket final. Bel-West must not have received the memo.
Coach Jeff Neely’s squad ran away from National 7-1, remaining in the winners bracket for Monday’s championship round, which will take place at Hartman Park at 4 p.m.
Bel-West will face either Eastlake, or the same Kirkland National team they disposed of on Saturday, needing only one win over whichever team they face. Kirkland National or Eastlake, coming from the losers bracket, will need to defeat Bel-West on consecutive nights to snatch the title from the currently unbeaten Bel-West squad.
