In a highly-anticipated matchup between KingCo 3A/2A’s top teams, Bellevue pulled away from Mount Si thanks to the hot shooting of Alex Scrempf and Aaron Bright to win 77-59 Friday night.
Schrempf scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds and Bright scored 25 points as the Wolverines (11-1, 5-0 league) solidified themselves as the league’s top team.
Bellevue held Mount Si’s Tanner Riley to 14 points, 13 points less than his average. Riley had been the area’s leading scorer, averaging 27.1 points for the Wildcats (6-4, 3-1) this season.

Bellevue Christian 46, Seattle Academy 44
Jeff Rerucha scored 15 points and Aaron Iseman contributed 12 as the Vikings survived against Seattle Academy 46-44.
The Cardinals (4-7, 1-2 Emerald City League) were led by Adrian Brandon and Kyle Terriere, who scored 12 points each.
Bellevue Christian (8-4, 6-0) season leading scorer David Downs was held to eight points. Downs has averaged 18.1 points per game this season.
Garfield 81, Newport 46
Playing without injured sophomore star Tony Wroten Jr., Garfield received a season-high 18 points, six steals and four rebounds from Christian Blanks as the Bulldogs beat up Newport 81-46.
Wroten suffered a sprained ankle in Garfield’s last game and didn’t suit up for the Bulldogs (8-1, 7-0 KingCo 4A). D’Andre Taylor added 16 points for Garfield and Jaron Cox contributed 15.
Interlake 44, Juanita 33
Three Saints scored in double figures as Interlake knocked off Juanita 44-33.
Aaron Sweat led Interlake (6-5, 1-4) with 15 points, while Ricky Aaron and Zac Johnston each added 10 points for the Saints.
The Rebels (4-9, 2-3) were led by Ryon Cunningan, who scored a game-high 20 points.
Girls basketball
Newport 69, Garfield 67
Junior Betsy Kingma exploded for 39 points, helping the Knights overcome double-doubles by Garfield’s DeAndreney Dillard-Brown and Cora McManus and defeat the Bulldogs 69-67.
Kingma’s 39 points were the most the junior has scored for Newport (7-3, 4-3 KingCo 4A) this season. Dillard-Brown scored 11 points and had 17 rebounds while McManus scored 10 points and had 10 boards in the Garfield (6-4, 3-3) loss.
Interlake 60, Juanita 47
Sarah Anderegg scored 30 points and grabbed 23 rebounds as the Saints knocked off the Rebels 60-47.
Anderegg was only two point shy of equaling her season-high scoring. Sara Ostlund added 11 points for the Saints (10-3, 2-3 KingCo 3A/2A). Olvia Marshall led Juanita (4-9, 2-3) with 15 points.
Bellevue 67, Mount Si 50
Sisters Emilie and Alyssa GIlbert combined for 27 points as the Wolverines beat Mount Si 67-50 in Snoqualmie.
Stephanie Fredrick added 10 points for the Wolverines (9-4, 4-1). Caitie Richards scored 11 points for Mount Si (3-9, 2-2) and was the only Wildcat in double figures.
Bellevue Christian 45, Seattle Academy 30
Maren Haines scored 14 points and Michelle Teng had 12 as Bellevue Christian (8-1, 5-0 Emerald CIty League) beat Seattle Academy 45-30.
Bush 52, Forest Ridge 27
Randi Cheatham-Johnson and Cassie Mullen each scored 18 points as Bush beat the Ravens (1-8, 1-4) 52-27.
Malena Harrang led the Ravens with nine points.
