The Wolverines will make the trip to the state tournament after capturing the KingCo title with a 2-1 win over Mercer Island.

For the first time in school history, Bellevue is home to the KingCo champions of girls soccer.

The Wolverines won both conference tournament matches 2-1, first over crosstown Interlake and then Mercer Island three days later, to capture the league title and set the program’s first ever trip to the state tournament, which begins Nov. 11.

After falling 2-1 to the Islanders in the final regular season match of the year, Bellevue rebounded with a win over the Saints behind goals from Sabrina Mohazzabfar and Jojo Harber, the second coming on an assist from Mohazzabfar.

In Tuesday’s championship rematch with Mercer Island, it was again Mohazzabfar with the deciding tally, finishing off an assist from Tracy Monk in the second half after the Wolverines took a lead on an Islander own goal.
