The Category 5 Bellevue basketball team recently finished up a successful season that saw the team earn several top finishes in tournaments around the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
The AAU team, comprised of 16 and 17-year-old girls from the Eastside, went 21-5 since the first of July, and came in third out of 120 teams in its last tournament, the MSNM Western Championships, in San Diego, Calif.
The tournament included teams from Oregon, Alaska, California, Montana, Utah, Idaho and Canada.
The team, coached by Brent Hermanson and Marc Adams, took second place in the Spokane Stars Tournament and the Auburn-Riverside Tournament of Champions earlier this summer.
Other notable finishes included a consolation championship win at the Auburn Riverside Mid-May Run, a pair of third-place finishes at the Oregon City Shootout and the Oregon City End of Trail tournament, as well as a final-four finish at the MSNM Seattle tournament.
The team was made up of players from Newport, Eastlake, Bellevue and Interlake high schools.
Team members are Ellie Martinez, Alyssa Charlston, Marisa Blair, Betsy Kingma, Alyssa Gilbert, Kelsey Patrick, Brianna Shannon, Hanna Ostic and Sarah Anderegg.
Hermanson was named to the head women’s basketball coach at Bellevue Community College earlier this year after he spent last season as an assistant under Steve Lowe.
