In 4A, the boys basketball KingCo Tournament gets underway on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the higher seeded school.
The top four teams from each division will matchup in the first round of the double-elimination tournament with the top two earning the league’s direct berths to the regional round and the third place finisher facing the third place team from the 4A WesCo tournament.
Newport currently sits in the fourth spot after falling to Skyline on Friday, but could still slip past Issaquah into the third seed depending on how the rest of the regular season plays out.
The 4A girls tourney will start a day later at higher seeded schools and will also pit the top four teams from each division for two direct tickets to regionals and one spot in a KingCo-WesCo pigtail game.
The Knights girls can lock themselves into a playoff spot with a win over Redmond on Wednesday.
The top six teams on both the boys and girls sides will take part in the 3A KingCo Tournament, which begins on Monday, Feb. 6 at the higher seeded school, all at 7 p.m.
The boys and girls tournaments will continue at Bellevue College with the top four teams advancing to the SeaKing District 2 boys and girls tournaments on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Bellevue and Sammamish are both still in contention for the top seed along with Lake Washington and Mercer Island for the boys.
Bellevue and Mount Si are currently tied in the fourth slot on the girls side while Sammamish is winless in league play and will not be one of the six teams in the tournament.
Interlake still has a chance to earn one of the 12 spots into the West Central District III girls hoops tournament.
1A Bellevue Christian looks poised to earn a top seed on the boys side, with the 12-3 Vikings still unscathed at 8-0 in Emerald City League play. 12 teams will head to the Tri-District tournament for both the boys and girls with the top six gaining a spot in the regional playoff round.
