A handful of area players will take part in this weekend’s All-State Baseball Game at Parker Field in Yakima, an event that gathers 72 of the state’s top senior baseball players.
Area players selected for the event were Bellevue’s Jeff Melby, Newport’s Colin Hering, Sammamish’s David Madson and Eastside Catholic’s Mike Bush and pitcher Matt Boyd, the state coaches association’s MVP and an Oregon State signee.
The seniors were chosen after each league’s feeder game, and will be divided into four teams for the event. The semi-finals are on Saturday afternoon, with third-place and championship games being played Sunday.
