A Bellevue College basketball player will miss the rest of the year and another player at Peninsula College in Port Angeles has been thrown off the team after a punch broke the jaw of the BC player near the end of last Saturday’s game.
The Peninsula College player has not yet been charged but is being investigated for second degree assault after the incident, which took place during an 80-69 win for the Bulldogs.
No mention of the fight was made on the school’s official website, which said of the game, “The Bulldogs were able to hold off the Pirates and finished the game with the biggest lead of the night at 80-69. The win moved Bellevue into a tie for 4th place and only one game out of second in the North Region standings.”
Bellevue College athletic director Bill O’Connor declined to comment on the incident and said the school will wait until the investigation into the assault is closed to offer any remarks.
