Boys tennis
Mercer Island 6 Bellevue 1
Mercer Island dominated its boys tennis match against Bellevue, taking all but one of the four singles matches and each of the three doubles contests. Henry Smith, Brian Hon and Josh Hartmann all earned singles wins for the Islanders.
The duos of Kyle Baska and Marcus Almquist, Ben Elliot and Matt Seifirt and Jeremy Chow and Spencer Dillon all picked up wins for Mercer Island as well.
Zach Kosanke defeated Jordan Smith (1-6, 6-3, 6-3) in the number one singles match to help the Wolverines avoid the sweep.

Cross Country
The Bellevue boys took the top two spots and four of the top five at Wednesday’s meet with Interlake, Sammamish, Lake Washington and Juanita.
John Fowler finished in first place with a time of 15:45 while Ryan Long (second), Addison Woolsey (fourth) and Will Sheeran (fifth) all helped the Wolverines to the team victory.
Interlake’s Sam Giner finished the race in third place with a time of 16:00 and the Saints finished second as a team on boys side.
On the girls side it was also Interlake and Bellevue battling for the top spot but it was the Saints who came out ahead behind the performances of Nadia Lucas, Antoinette Tansley and Niki Waghani, who finished in the top three spots.
The Saints took the team scoring by 20 points over second place Bellevue.
Sammamish’s Pascale De Sa E Silva ended the race in fourth place and Julia Ellings of Bellevue finished in fifth.
Volleyball
Mercer Island 3 Bellevue 1 (22-25, 25-22, 16-25, 14-25)
Bellevue also fell to the Islanders on the volleyball court, losing in four games. Jessie Marvin and Lauren Patrick filled the stat sheet even in the loss.
Marvin had 13 kills, 12 digs and six aces to go with one block and one assist and Patrick finished with 11 assists, five kills, three digs, one block and one ace. Memie Huang added 13 digs for Bellevue.
Interlake 3 Sammamish 0 (25-19, 25-8, 25-5)
Interlake swept three games from Crossroads Cup rival Sammamish behind 20 assists and four aces from Alyssa Deardorff and six kills and four aces from Kori Maitlen.
Bellevue College golfers take Centralia Invitational
Colton Kleis and Katya Case both earned wins for Bellevue College at the Centralia Invitational and both did so in record setting fashion.
Kleis shot a pair of 66s, good enough for 10-under par and a six shot victory over the rest of the field. The 132 stroke total is also a Bellevue College tournament record, breaking the mark of 134 set by Richard Lee. As a team, the Bulldogs finished in third place and also received strong performances from Beau Forrest (tied-10th), Price Coshow (tied-12th), Zach Buchanan (tied-15th) and Nathan Stephenson (tied-21st).
On the women’s side, Case shot a 152 to win her second consecutive tournament for the BC women and finish an incredible 20 strokes ahead of the field. The women also won the team scoring for the second straight tournament. Other placers for the women’s team were Tiffany Brunjes (3rd), Corey Rois (5th), Alaynna Herring (8th) and Kayce Ogishima (12th).
Boys prep golf
Newport’s Kevin Zhao finished in ninth place with a two-round score of 154 at the 4A KingCo medalist tournament at Willows Run Golf Course in Redmond.
