Wolverines split a pair, still alive in Sea-King tourney

Bellevue split a pair of matches on the opening day at the 3A Sea-King tournament, topping Chief Sealth 3-0 before falling by the same count to Bainbridge in the second round.

The loss sent Bellevue to a loser-out match with Holy Names at 1 p.m. on November 3 at Chief Sealth High School. A win by the Wolverines will give them two final chances to earn one of the district’s five berths to the 3A state tournament.

Interlake, which was swept away 3-0 by Lakeside in the opening round, saw its season end.

Newport headed to state with runner-up finish at districts

Newport is headed back to the state tournament after wins over Woodinville and Eastlake in the 4A KingCo tournament.

The Knights fell 3-1 to Skyline in the championship match and will take the second seed from the league to state.

Bellevue Christian will meet Overlake at King’s in a loser-out, winner-to-state match at 9 a.m. in the 1A tri-district tournament.
