A U14 boys soccer team took the Founders Cup title, and a former Bellevue athlete is playing a star role for her collegiate softball team at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

Lake Hills squad wins title

Lake Hills Synergy of Bellevue, a U14 soccer team, won the Washington State Youth Soccer Founders Cup title in February, beating Seattle United 1-0 in the championship at Starfire.

The Lake Hills squad did not allow a goal in the final three games at the state tournament.

Team members include: Chris Taves, Dante Paszkeicz, Thomas Schaefer, Will Tobin, Mark Kim, Francisco Olivares, James Sullivan, Andrew Akers, Coach Brian McInnes, Jake Larson, Jared McInnes, Matthew Roberts, Mathias Bien, Shane Riley, Griffin Ganz, Will Meadows, Gavin Dayment.

Bellevue alum earns collegiate honor

Katie Savard, a Bellevue High School grad and member of a pair of state playoff softball teams, was named Athlete of the Week at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College for her performance on the diamond.

Savard went 6-11 and knocked in nine runs over four games, all wins, to bring her batting average to .429 through the first 15 games of the season.

During the 2011 3A state playoff season at Bellevue, when the Wolverines reached the semifinals, Savard went 4-4 and had an RBI and run scored in her team’s quarterfinal win over Kamiakin.
