The Lakeside Senior American League baseball team advanced to the final of the state sub-regional July 20, with a 12-0 shutout over the Cobras baseball club at Bannerwood Park.
Lakeside tacked on a run in the bottom of the third and fourth innings, before a sloppy fielding performance by the Cobras in the bottom of the fifth opened the flood gates en route to a 10-run inning.
The Cobras committed three fielding errors in the inning, not including an rbi sun-single by Daniel Altchech. Altchech knocked in three runs including two in the fifth.
Nate Anderson and Brandon Mahovlich added two-RBI hits each in the fifth to spread the gap and secure the win.
Starting pitcher Travis Snider pitched a seven-inning shutout, before the game was called due to the 10-run mercy rule. Snider struck out seven Cobra hitters and allowed just five base runners.
Lakeside will face the Spokane Blue Devils, who defeated the Kennewick Bandist, July 21 at 4 p.m. at Bannerwood Park.
