Bellevue got the game-winning goal from senior Clarice Bruch with only seconds remaining in the game and after its 1-0 lead had been erased minutes earlier, beating Auburn Moutainview 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the 3A girls soccer state tournament and keeping its season alive in the process.
Isabelle Butterfield put her team on top in the second half off a Sabrina Mohazzabfar assist before Auburn-Mountainview tied things up at one apiece.
But the Wolverines punched their ticket to the semi-finals on Bruch’s goal, and is now two wins away from a state championship in its first ever state tournament appearance.
Kamiakin, which beat Peninsula 3-0 in the opening round and survived a 1-0 game with Mount Spokane in the quarters, will make the trip to Sparks Stadium in Puyallup for a 2 p.m. 3A state semi-final match. The winner faces either Seattle Prep or Liberty in Saturday’s title match.
