Girls tennis
Angela Chen and Amie Vo of Newport will face a duo from Skyview (Vancouver) for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Forest Ridge sophomore Michelle Lui earned the top seed from the district for the 1B/2B/1A tournament and will begin her state title defense against Megan Elliot of Kiona-Benton in the first round.
Either Noelle Parton of Cascade or Kristen Jorgensen of Tenino will be waiting in the quarterfinals should Lui advance.
Isabelle Long is the lone Interlake player in the field of 16 in 2A and will meet Stephanie Her of Pullman in the opener.
Boys tennis
Joe Motto and Eric Radoi of Interlake will take on Connor Haidle and Chris Meyers of West Valley in the first round of the 2A boys doubles tournament.
Newport’s Chris Lilley and Dylan Harlow will face Alex Noyes and Paul Lennick of Kentwood in the opener while teammates Alec Tsutsumoto and Andrew Choi will meet up with a duo from Auburn-Riverside in 4A boys doubles.
Luat Le is back to defend his 2A singles title for Interlake and will first meet Blake Andrews of Medical Lake before a possible quarterfinal rematch against Zach Fohn of North Kitsap. Fohn and Le played in the finals last year in an epic showdown.
Connor Garnett, who won the SPSL title in the fall in an all-Interlake final against Le, will face Jordan Shaffer from Selah in the first round.
Zach Kosanke of Bellevue will meet Luke Thompson of Hanford in the first round.
The 4A tennis tournament is at Columbia Basin Racquet Club and Richland High School.
The 3A tournament takes place at Tri City Court Club and Kamiakin High School.
The 2A tournament is at Nordstrom Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Washington and the 1B/2B/1A tournament is at the Yakima Tennis Center.
All tournaments take place on Friday and Saturday.
