A streaking-hot Lakeside Senior Legion baseball team had its fire extinguished over the weekend, dropping four straight games.
The group of Newport, Issaquah and Skyline players moved their win streak to eight games on Friday night, knocking off Valley Thunder 5-1 and 17-0 in a doubleheader. Lakeside followed off those wins with a pair of losses Saturday to Chaffey Baseball Club at Husky Ballpark. Chaffey won the first game 2-1, then creamed Lakeside 20-3 in the second.
The team suffered two close defeats on Sunday, falling 8-7 and 5-3 to the Rips Brewers, moving their record to 12-5 for the summer.
Newport’s Trace Tam Sing went 4-for-4 for Lakeside and Kevon Zadeh was 2-for-3 with an RBI in game two.
Lakeside hosts the Pilots today in a doubleheader that starts at 9 a.m. at Newport.
The Honda of Bellevue Senior Legion baseball club recently returned from a tournament in Missoula, Mont., where the team amassed a 3-3 record.
Bellevue lost its opening game on June 18, falling 9-8 to the Twin Falls Cowboys. Matt Jackson went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs in the loss.
The team came back for an 8-3 win over Centrailia the next day, powered by a three-run double by first baseman Clayton Truex.
Honda continued its win streak, beating the Post Falls Cardinals 5-1 Saturday afternoon, then fell to the Missoula Mavericks 10-6 later that night. The team rebounded to beat the Spokane Bandits 6-4 in the tournament semi-finals before falling again to the Mavericks 8-5 in the tournament championship game.
Bellevue Honda returned home to trounce the Seattle Dodgers 10-1 at Bannerwood Park on Wednesday. Matt Jackson scattered three hits and struck out five, while Clayton Truex hit a home run and Sean Narby knocked in three RBIs in the big win.
