For the first time in recent memory, a new face will be leading the Newport Knights football team as the starting signal caller.
Senior Tre Louis, who backed up starting quarterback Brandon Steinberg the past three seasons, is relishing the opportunity to be under center this fall during the 2018 season.
“I know the offense and have been watching and learning from him (Steinberg) for three years. I think it’s going to be good year for us,” Louis said.
The past three seasons Louis has played a bevy of positions, including running back, receiver as well as getting some snaps at the quarterback slot. The Knights, who have a reputation of being one of the most disciplined teams in the KingCo 4A Conference, is the perfect fit for Louis’ personality on and off the field.
“We push ourselves to be the best we can and are a hard working group of guys. I just love being around these guys every day,” Louis said.
Louis believes his teammates surrounding him on the gridiron will be the reason for the Knights success in 2018.
“I’m a team guy. It isn’t about me, its more about the linemen. If we score, it’s because the linemen made the great blocks. We (skill players) just work off of them,” Louis said.
Recently the Bellevue Reporter had an opportunity to ask Louis a few questions about his life away from the football field.
