Baseball
Newport 8 Inglemoor 1
The Knights remained in the winner’s bracket behind a complete game effort from senior pitcher Aaron Sandefur, who also finished with three base hits and four RBI on the day.
Newport jumped ahead in the top of the first before scoring two more in the third and erasing any doubt with a four-run seventh inning.
That would be more than enough for Sandefur, who struck out six and walked two on the game to get the win. Ioannis Kritsonis scored three runs in the game for Newport.
The Knights will face Redmond in the semi-finals tonight at Woodinville High School at 4 p.m. with a spot in the 4A state tournament on the line. Skyline and Bothell will meet in the other semi-final while Woodinville faces Inglemoor and Ballard meets Skyline in the loser’s bracket.
